Pros

The only good thing about this company is that the men tip good. The pay isn't bad if you work allot of hours.

Cons

You have to attend a week long class before even starting on how to cut men's hair(even if you already know how to) they don't pay for transportation. You have to buy all your own shirts a different shirt for everyday and the shirts aren't cheap. You have to sell a ridiculous amount of product. If you don't sell enough they will constantly threaten to fire you and cut your hours. They will also make you come in for a class before or after your shift Everytime you don't sell enough so you can learn how to be more pursuading and pushy about selling hair products. Most of these women that have worked here a long time are extremely petty and agressive their whole life is sports clips and full of sports clips drama. So pathetic. They talk about it outside of work it's like they eat, sleep, and breathe sports clips, it's hard to get away from the company once your in. It's like a cult they don't want you to leave. They will do anything so you don't leave switch your store etc.etc. it's almost impossible to get permanently fired from this company. It's a extremely demanding job, it will literally suck the life out of you, you never get weekends off. There are no set hours and they work you so much you can't have a life. If your not selling enough products that is. If you don't sell you won't be able to to live. They will cut your hours if you don't sell enough products. They want you to keep the conversation around sports and hair products. You have to be extremely pushy to get people to buy them. The products are expensive and hard to sell sometimes. They put guys on the spot and make them feel guilty or belittle them if they really can't afford the product. I felt sorry for so many men when because of how mean and minulaptive these women were to them. They only care about selling hair products not about the customer or his/her feelings. I would never work back there again, I swear I still think about it sometimes I compare it to leaving a abusive relationship because that's what it feels like when you leave. They put a extreme guilt trip on you, they will blame you for everything ! Say you were the problem and your not good enough to work for them because you just can't keep up with the other girls that are pushing hair products, yet they will on the other hand try to talk you into switching to another slower store. Crazy people don't do it ! Plus if you can't cut men's hair that well they will constantly trash talk you.

Pros

Health Insurance and 401k definitely help. A lot of hairdressers are moms and some of them single moms, so these benefits help a lot! My team leader and area manager are amazing at helping and keeping me feeling good about how I'm doing.

Cons

none, I have to say, if you're willing to work and make something of yourself and want to work for a great company that will recognize that. This is the place to be!

Pros

No pros beside it being a paycheck

Cons

Wasn’t allowed to have colored hair as a stylist, franchise owners in Arizona push their conservative beliefs on employees, didn’t even allow facial piercings, as time goes by and I’m working at an amazing salon and being treated for what I’m worth, being valued and paid an actual living wage, being allowed to express my individuality, being able to finally find somewhere where I’ve been able to blossom in my 8 years of hairdressing, I’m realizing just how awfully sport clips treats their employees, absolute joke of a wage for the productivity, work, and hours they expect, started here fresh out of beauty school and was constantly undermined, a lot of workplace bullying, favoritism, outcasting stylists that didn’t fit the perfect Sportclips “ideal.” Unless you want to be a slave to Sportclips, and constantly told cut faster cut faster sell more sell more and creating an uncomfortable experience for the stylist and client, making it feel like a sales job, it’s such an outdated way to operate, to hit numbers for the commission you’d have to sell like a car seller and do 10-15 minute haircuts for hours on end. don’t work here. Not to mention the average tip clients leave is 5-7 while you get a minimum wage hourly. Just a spit in the face.
