Pros
Sport Clips is a great way to get a lot of experience with shorter cuts. Often times coming out of school stylist are least versed in shorter/clipper cuts. Sport Clips typically has high volume of clients in and out the door. They do offer commission on product sales over a certain dollar amount. They also offer good training classes that are corporate regulated. They are also fairly decent at keeping up with state laws, not 100% but better than many salons. This all MAY vary from owner to owner and even shop shop as it is a franchised company.
Cons
These go for the franchise I worked for- I can't say for sure these things apply to all shops. I worked for the company for over a year before attending my first training class. I was cornered into performing tasks that were not within my job description, meaning I was being made to do things that were meant for higher paid positions to do but I was not getting paid the same as those higher positions. Like many places, especially within the industry, management and owners played favorites, had inconsistent expectations and rule enforcements, and engaged in petty immature drama. They do not pay a livable wage. No employees under the manager were paid over $12/hr. Unskilled labor jobs pay more than them.
