Pros

Busy locations - days go by quick

Cons

The absence of effective leadership skills demonstrated by the manager is truly alarming. The continuous barrage of aggressive messages taped to the front counter, proclaiming phrases such as "sales numbers suck" and "show some urgency" regarding transition times, is not only counterproductive but also absurd. It is imperative that the company invests in leadership training for its management team. Resorting to aggressive notes is certainly not a viable method for motivating employees. Interestingly, the company's motto, prominently printed on the shirts that employees are required to wear, states, "Treat others the way they want to be treated." This principle should unequivocally extend to the treatment of staff members as well. Everyone in the workplace is an adult and deserves to be addressed with professionalism and respect. Moreover, the pervasive negativity emanating from many stylists in the store is truly disheartening. We all share a common objective: to earn a living while ensuring that our customers feel valued and appreciated. However, this sense of camaraderie seems to be lacking when it comes to interactions among colleagues. Instead of uplifting one another and fostering a supportive environment, individuals often engage only with friends and resort to gossiping about others in the break room. Discussions about the manager become a frequent topic whenever she is not present, and complaints arise if someone is assigned to a station that others prefer. Additionally, the manager has taken to sending random text messages with uniform reminders, including comments about inappropriate attire such as "hoochie shorts" and "camel toes." Furthermore, rather than sharing the positive feedback that many employees receive, the focus has been directed toward just one or two survey responses concerning hygiene, which were then addressed in a group text message. This approach not only undermines morale but also perpetuates an atmosphere of embarrassment and negativity. Such communication is undeniably unprofessional and contributes to a toxic workplace environment. The inability to foster camaraderie and to conduct oneself with professionalism is severely undermining the morale of the team and eroding the confidence of the stylists in their ability to reach their goals. While there is a significant emphasis on product sales, it is crucial to recognize that if this is the primary objective, then the company must provide managers with effective training on how to motivate their teams. This cannot be achieved through derogatory notes or haphazard text messages; instead, it requires a thoughtful and supportive approach that inspires and uplifts employees. If there were even a small measure of respect, professionalism, and encouragement, the numbers would naturally improve.

Pros

Health Insurance and 401k definitely help. A lot of hairdressers are moms and some of them single moms, so these benefits help a lot! My team leader and area manager are amazing at helping and keeping me feeling good about how I'm doing.

Cons

none, I have to say, if you're willing to work and make something of yourself and want to work for a great company that will recognize that. This is the place to be!

Pros

No pros beside it being a paycheck

Cons

Wasn’t allowed to have colored hair as a stylist, franchise owners in Arizona push their conservative beliefs on employees, didn’t even allow facial piercings, as time goes by and I’m working at an amazing salon and being treated for what I’m worth, being valued and paid an actual living wage, being allowed to express my individuality, being able to finally find somewhere where I’ve been able to blossom in my 8 years of hairdressing, I’m realizing just how awfully sport clips treats their employees, absolute joke of a wage for the productivity, work, and hours they expect, started here fresh out of beauty school and was constantly undermined, a lot of workplace bullying, favoritism, outcasting stylists that didn’t fit the perfect Sportclips “ideal.” Unless you want to be a slave to Sportclips, and constantly told cut faster cut faster sell more sell more and creating an uncomfortable experience for the stylist and client, making it feel like a sales job, it’s such an outdated way to operate, to hit numbers for the commission you’d have to sell like a car seller and do 10-15 minute haircuts for hours on end. don’t work here. Not to mention the average tip clients leave is 5-7 while you get a minimum wage hourly. Just a spit in the face.
