Pros

Decent Software Service. Positive and friendly people. Decent training. Senior Management seems engaged and seems to care about the company.

Cons

You don't receive any form of benefits until 6 months after your start date - why is that? The turnover rate is staggering, and SpotOn knows that. No matter what they say in the interview process or in the job description, this is a door-to-door, OUTSIDE SALES position. They will never stop talking about how you need to enter into businesses unannounced, trying to win over business owners without representing SpotOn. They want you to walk into the business pretending to be a normal customer, "befriending" the owner of the business and then casually slipping into conversation SpotOn when the "moment is right." One of the people they had speak about finding success in the role (a district manager who used to be an Account Executive) gave a speech about how you need to be "a sociopath with empathy". I recommend that SpotOn googles the definition of sociopath. I understand you need to be tactful and strategic in Sales roles but this method just reeks of deception. They want you driving around in your vehicle out in the "field" all day. One more time - this is an OUTSIDE SALES job. They won't say that until you're hired. 100% commission based. If you are looking for guaranteed income or some form of stability, I would recommend looking elsewhere. They're honesty about how hard this job is might seem refreshing, but all it is is an indicator of how bloated the industry is. I can't even count how many times throughout the training process they said things like "If you aren't willing to work 80+ hour weeks, this job is not for you" or "This is the most difficult sales job you will ever have" - not very motivational. No sane person wants to work 80+ hour work weeks. Put that in the job description if its so important to finding success in the role!

That's not accurate though? It doesn't take 6 months to get benefits? And yes - we try to expectation-set. Field sales is hard. But you know what? I think we're all fortunate to have those career prospects. So "hard" is all relative. I'd be surprised if we're using the phrase "sociopath" or requiring 80 hours to be successful. It's obviously not accurate. But we'll make sure we clean it up. Best, RJ

Pros

Robust benefits package that covers all the essentials: health, dental, vision, and a 401(k). They also offer an unlimited PTO policy, which is a great perk depending on how you prefer to manage your work-life balance.

Cons

Where do I begin? The product itself is unreliable and faulty, which means you are constantly dealing with angry customers. When you combine an unstable product with inept leadership, it's easy to see why the company struggles with profitability. There is zero culture here (at least in my department), and managers provide a severe lack of training. New employees are routinely thrown into situations they aren't prepared for, yet leadership wastes no time lambasting you when things go wrong. Because of this, morale is incredibly low and turnover is very high. Their internal processes are deeply flawed, and leadership has no intention of fixing them. It is simply too much work and unnecessary stress for the pay. I would stay far away from this company.
