Pros
In my 5+ years with Spotify, I never got tired of working on the product. It's been one of my favorite consumer apps since it came to the US and it's simply the best audio streaming platform. Most employees are super passionate about it and music in general. The company offers great benefits - especially around healthcare - but these unfortunately don't make up for the below-average total compensation (compared to other large tech companies).
Cons
Base salaries are LOW and rarely does Spotify adjust for what the rest of the industry is doing, offer regular equity grants, and bonuses. Leadership talks a lot about restructuring their career growth framework but rarely do they actually follow up with it. The highest performers often go unrecognized and don't receive adequate clarity when it comes to how they can progress in the short term. This is unacceptable and they continue to talk about it but rarely follow through. There are also a ton of dead-weight managers who've been around for 5+ years and don't actually do anything. Spotify rarely does layoffs but as a result there's a bunch of people sitting around on their hands and taking credit for other people's work - especially on the Premium Business team.
