Pros

Good benefits and salary, wonderful and passionate people, flexible schedule

Cons

Leadership, spending and appeasing shareholders. The multiple branches of spotify: music, podcasts, events, social, marketing, engineering, etc etc, do not speak to each other. Instead, leadership seemingly randomly doles funding to teams who are able to meet arbitrary company goals that shift at least once a quarter, ensuring that no long-term strategies can meaningfully be formed. As a result, Spotify internal feels like a Hunger Games-style budget scramble in which you are tasked with creating alliances and even subtly sabotaging other teams for your own team's benefit. I was told multiple times things like "don't contact [insert team/person here], they don't support us". Ever wonder why the front page of the app is such an unorganized mess of seemingly random content? Because the teams who got front page access won the game that week. There is no overarching strategy or reasoning present. The week after I got laid off and my team was gutted, I saw a fun article on LinkedIn stating that Spotify had suddenly found the budget for 1,000 new hires. How does that work?

Pros

Great benefits and quality of life

Cons

Easy to get lost in the size of the company. Always a "what if" after large layoffs.
