Pros
Casual, relaxed, faith based institution. SAU can be a great place to work if you don't care about compensation or consistency.
Cons
A very frustrating upper administration. Times are tough for small private colleges and SAU has been really struggling for the last 5 years. Salaries are low, benefits have been consistently cut. I started 4-6 years ago and my overall compensation had been cut by about 20%. The upper administration has made a lot of important decisions without any staff or, more importantly, faculty input and they generally struggle to admit wrongdoing. I would wait to work here until a new President/VPs are in place to ensure a more healthy culture moving forward. Whatever your role at SAU might be, it is likely that your direct supervisor will be awesome, but that they will be limited in how effectively they can work and lead because of other areas of unhealthy leadership.
