During the 3 yrs that I worked as a middle school teacher and ESL Coordinator in Spring, I cannot say that the district did a single thing to effectively support language learners. Everything was just a paperwork shuffle. All CYA, compliance, funding, waste of time, non-sense. And this could be said about their approach to the academic growth (or lack there of) of all students in the district. District came in every grading period to audit the mountain of (pointless) paperwork our overworked and under-supported teachers were required to complete for failing ELLs, but not once did they ever talk to or ask about those teachers and students or whats going on in the classroom, nor do they actually offer instructional support. Its just paperwork. Thats it.
