Pros
St. Edwards is an excellent University that focuses on critical and creative thinking and learning. Adjuncts are allowed some freedom in structuring courses, although major decisions are made at a committee level. There are ongoing opportunities for professional training and development, and little red tape and busywork beyond the application process. Pay is reasonable for part time.
Cons
The many benefits extended to St. Edwards' employees do not extend to Adjuncts. This includes free or discounted tuition, health, and other standard benefits. As with many large organizations, change is slow and it is difficult to know what one will be teaching from one semester to the next. Administrative staff does not always actively communicate important information.
