Pros
The people who work at Steds are wonderful. The workers really do value the mission of the university and use it in their work everyday - it's not just lip service. Gorgeous campus in a great city.
Cons
I was an Associate Director and applied for a new director job via an internal search. I was offered the job with zero salary increase. I was stunned and refused. They were only able to counter with a salary increase of less than $1,000. I accepted and left a couple months later. I knew for a fact other directors were making $30,000+ more than me at this time. It was insulting since I'd been there for 3 years and made many professional and personal sacrifices for them. The politics there are wild. We weren't always honest with students about large construction projects and political savvy is valued there moreso than being student-centered or the quality of the work produced. Diversity and Inclusion was celebrated through the perspective of liberal politics, but other perspectives aren't welcome. I'm not a republican or right-wing but sometimes felt judged for being far enough left.
