For an organization that preaches bottom-up solutions, the place is run from the top down. It claims to be a place where people are empowered to solve problems and make decisions, but nobody feels empowered and instead most just try to guess what the leaders want to hear and just do that. Guess right and you are rewarded (happens rarely). Guess wrong and you are not. Ask for guidance and you are criticized for not being entrepreneurial. Challenge senior leaders when you think they’re wrong and you find yourself marginalized or being let go.
