Pros

I recently joined Standard Bots after working at another ambitious startup. However, Standard Bots is far ahead in many areas. They have a dedicated sales and solutions team, stable software that can handle real-world tasks, a shop team focused on efficient hardware assembly, and most importantly, real customers using our products. This demonstrates a higher level of maturity compared to many other startups. This is my first remote position, and I was initially unsure about how it would work. However, the people here are fantastic to work with. They are talented and easy to interact with. Management has set ambitious goals and effectively communicated them to employees. The CEO is definitely sharp and has some inspiring ideas, however, he is not a dictator. If you come to him with a good argument, he'll listen and often change course. It's motivating to see the impressive work coming from the different teams.

Cons

As projects and goals accumulate, you can get spread somewhat thin. This is common and nearly unavoidable in start-ups though.

Pros

Inflection point in physical AI especially in US based Robotics Small but bright teams solving the problems of tomorrow Great benefits and culture that supports flexibility Opportunity for impact in robotics. Team is only 120+ and growing based on demand and product reputation Product market fit is established and sales are great!

Cons

Less structured than most companies. You have to be comfortable with little to no process and need to be excited about bring solutions instead of just problems to leadership.

Pros

I actually worked with Standard Bots as a client for about three years before deciding to join full-time, so I already knew how special the team and mission were. Getting the chance to come in-house just made me even more excited and it’s been awesome to see things up close. This is an early-stage startup, so things move fast. There’s a lot to figure out and not a ton of structure — that’s part of the fun. We’re mostly remote, which comes with a ton of trust from leadership. You’re expected to own your work and figure things out — nobody’s looking over your shoulder. The talent bar is really high, especially on the software side. The interview process is definitely longer and tougher than most startups, but that’s how we’ve ended up with such a strong engineering team. You get to work with people who are really good at what they do. You’ve got to be okay with constant change and not a lot of direction. That’s just startup life. But if you like autonomy and problem-solving, you’ll thrive here. The CEO is super accessible, genuinely smart, and passionate about robotics/automation/AI. He’s also a family guy, which seems to make him more empathetic and grounded than most startup founders I’ve met. 2026 is going to be a big year — feels like we’re gearing up for hyper growth. Overall, hang on tight. It’s a wild ride, but I’m loving it and excited for what’s ahead.

Cons

If you prefer predictability, a slower pace, or lots of guidance, this probably isn’t the right environment. It’s best suited for self-starters who enjoy chaos and problem-solving. There’s a lot to do and not enough people yet — typical startup story. Everyone wears multiple hats, which can be both exciting and exhausting.
