Pros

There are wonderful, intelligent people working at Stanley. Generally, people were very open to helping each other and were pleasant to work with. Some of the leadership is excellent at Stanley. There is also a high likelihood you will run into very high up members of corporate and have conversations with them. I found it refreshing that the upper management was relatively accessible and available to talk to.

Cons

Engineers do not do their own drafting. As an engineer, you are expected to send markups to a drafter, and the quality of their work can be quite frustrating. The drafter may cause you to take additional time checking their work something. In consulting, where you have a fixed budget, this can turn into a real stressor if you have a graphics person who cannot or will not do quality work. Drafters are not really held accountable to engineering, so they do not have the motivation that engineers do to make sure the project comes in under budget. There is very little to no official training at Stanley. Engineers at Stanley would like to see the company invest more in their development and skills, but there tends to be a belief that everyone will learn on the job. For those like me who are hungry to learn, I don't think this is the place for you. However, if you already have your knowledge and don't care about progressing further in your career, then Stanley may be a good fit for you.
