Pros

Working as a part-time employee at Staples has several advantages. Firstly, they offer benefits for part-time employees, including a retirement plan where they match up to 3% of contributions. Additionally, part-time workers also receive holiday pay, sick pay, and vacation pay, providing financial security and flexibility. However, it's worth noting that the employee discount is only 10 percent, which may be lower compared to some other retailers. Overall, these benefits make working part-time at Staples a potentially attractive option for individuals seeking flexible employment with some financial perks

Cons

I worked in tech for 20 years. I was terminated from Staples for defending myself from a customer (a white man) who called me the N-word and other racist slurs. I decided to give him the middle finger, and the Human Resources lady said that was against Staples policy. We're in the 20th century, and we still have jerks out there who like to use the N-word and don't care. By terminating me, you now reinforce that a man can still go out and belittle any person he chooses. He also can still shop at Staples. Put yourselves in my shoes. That man told me I was dumb, stupid, and uneducated, etc. I have two master's degrees and multiple certificates. I always had good numbers. Take a look at Store 360 now since I was terminated. People are quitting and transferring to other stores. Many of my customers are not shopping there anymore. To say I'm upset, yes. Was I wrong? You tell me. I also taking with the NAACP. Staples (HR) could have given me a warning; now, in my eyes, they have no respect for people of color. Overall, if a customer can call you anything, they will. Two years ago, Staples had a campaign about Diversity and Black Lives Matter. Let that settle in. Headquarters, in the past 3 to 5 years, I have put this statement in the yearly Staples survey: 'How do we handle customers with a problem with people of color?' Is it okay when customers come in just to treat people with no respect? I have been here at this store for almost 20 years, and the customers since Covid are unbelievable. They have no filters; they don’t care, etc. They think that you are in retail are uneducated and below their standards. Here’s a question: 'Would you like to be treated like an African American / or people with color are treated?' If the answer is NO, why are you allowing this?"

Pros

Discount was pretty nice to have

Cons

Management was changed very frequently that right when one person would finally get their system in order, someone else would be hired to take their place. Also the pay was really bad, like it only became 15 right before I was leaving.
