Pros

GM salary + bonus wasn't bad if coming from outside. Internal promotions will get low balled. The company is very inclusive I will give them that. Can have great co workers depending on who the GM hires.

Cons

It was OK years ago but progressively going downhill. Not liveable wages for anyone below SM level. Supervisors had tons of responsibility but got paid less than a PT fast food employee. Constantly pushing new sales indicators where there are so many you are always lacking in something. They keep cutting labor hours but adding more tasks. Amazon returns were a customer service killer. There is a lot to learn in Print and Tech departments but it's hard to maintain associates therefore you are constantly chasing your tail. Many of the office supply/school supply products are becoming irrelevant and Staples isn't fully invested in technology. They are pushing services but not staffing to properly execute services. Losing back.to school sales to Walmart and Target. Print department is bringing in all the margin/profit but as Fed Ex, UPS stores expand and online places like Vista print etc provide options Staples retail will slowly go out of business and become online only. In the meantime everyone will be overworked and underpaid. Once you leave you will realize how stressful Staples actually was.

Pros

Discount was pretty nice to have

Cons

Management was changed very frequently that right when one person would finally get their system in order, someone else would be hired to take their place. Also the pay was really bad, like it only became 15 right before I was leaving.
