Pros

1) Starkey goes above and beyond to show that they care about their customers 2) Plenty of excitement and yelling 3) Work life balance is preached 4) Management sets clear goals 5) Campus is well maintained and aesthetically pleasing 6) Very good place to make strong friendships within your department 7) Dean makes a great grilled Chicken Caesar Salad

Cons

1) They could actually care less about their customers business' in the big picture 2) All the excitement and yelling comes from a small group of individuals who think the sales floor is an NFL locker room 3) Work life balance really only matters if it's convenient. Customer classes and other events all take precedent. Was personally told I could not attend a friend's wedding due to a customer class. Later saw someone in middle management leave the same customer class to attend a friends wedding. 4) Goals are unattainable and non-negotiable 5) Very little time to enjoy campus as you'll need to be at/around your phone 6) Each and every department is shrinking as they are in cost saving mode from the continual lawsuits 7) Promotions are awarded more on tenure and being a 'yes man' than they are actual success 8) Management has no issue lying directly to employee's 9) Strategic decisions are hamstrung as they are being made by individuals so remarkably out of touch with reality

Pros

Mission-Driven Impact: You get the unique satisfaction of knowing your technical infrastructure directly supports technology that restores hearing and improves the quality of life for millions. • Innovation Hub: Because Starkey integrates AI and sensors into their hearing aids, IT engineers often work with sophisticated, modern stacks that bridge the gap between traditional enterprise IT and wearable tech. • Strong Local Culture: As a privately held company with deep roots in Minnesota, Starkey offers a stable, family-oriented environment that often feels more personal than a massive, faceless tech conglomerate.

Cons

Legacy Debt: Like many established manufacturing giants, you may encounter older legacy systems and "on-prem" hurdles that can slow down the deployment of more modern, cloud-native solutions. • Corporate Rigidity: Some employees report a traditional top-down management style, which can occasionally feel restrictive if you are used to the agile, flat autonomy found in Silicon Valley-style startups. • High-Pressure Environment: Given the precision required for medical devices and global distribution, the IT uptime requirements can lead to demanding "on-call" cycles and high-stress troubleshooting windows.
