Pros

I was excited to work at Starnik because I saw it as a place where I could learn a lot about software development in a short amount of time. I gained experience in multiple areas in less than a year. In the beginning I was doing software support calls. Taking support calls can be a challenge, but the troubleshooting skills I learned from it have helped me tremendously. You'll improve at listening to customers' issues and solving complicated problems on the fly. I really enjoyed doing Quality Assurance testing. It's always a race to be the first one to find an obscure bug. Another area I gained a lot of experience in was data migration and implementation. Customers coming from legacy software would provide their data in text files, and you had to figure out a way to get it into the system and maintain the integrity of the data. I even got to do a little business analysis and product design. I designed one report and the UI for a webpage in the software. I had coworkers who were very smart, hardworking, and helpful. Sometimes you'll need help from them, and other times you'll be the one helping. I work as a programmer now but being a solution analyst was beneficial.

Cons

Not much vacation compared to other software companies. You have to keep detailed documentation of how you spent your time throughout the day.

Pros

Free sodas and interesting work topics. Very informative to learn about various types of billing styles across different industries.

Cons

Low pay. After working in other places for several years, I believe the work environment and management style here was very odd. Long term coworkers were either in a childish mood or unbelievably serious. The owners repeatedly made up future potential for current employees in the hopes that they would stick around longer, but the opportunities were unrealistic.
