      Good place to coast, but don't get stuck here as an early-career - Data Analytics Engineer State Farm Employee Review

      Pros

      Relatively relaxed deadlines, not generally a competitive or back-stabby environment. No oncall, overnight, or weekend work. It's a good place if you have kids or are late-career and want to clock out at 5. Lots of PTO and decent benefits.

      Cons

      Lots of 10+ yr employees who sling insurance jargon & acronyms that are so entrenched they don't even remember what they stand for. Slow-moving and lots of red tape, a very old and inefficient tech stack that nobody seems interested in updating. Bland corpo-office that feel straight out of Severance - no free food or snacks so you have to leave the office to get lunch or bring it from home. Comp is very low compared to most of the industry.

      Pros

      (At the time) Fair pay and predictable bonus structure They were pretty good at covering travel expenses and paying them back quickly Diverse workforce & diversity initiatives Fun and funny coworkers Opportunities for growth Again, this was all four years ago and has likely changed

      Cons

      (At the time and now, according to other comments) Arrogant to a fault Total lack of innovation & willingness to innovate Odd attachment to the company's past (which prevents progress) High number of veterans (20+ years) who are determined to get that retirement money, and therefore, are resistant to change and technology Heavy reliance on command and control management style Poor decision-making that leads to losses of all kinds
