Pros

The company has excellent benefits and you will work with some of the most genuine/real world people in life. Unfortunately, the morale is very low.

Cons

I am embarrassed to say I work here. I apply for job all day at work and when I’m not at work. Company started going through changes about 7 years ago and continues to make those life changing decisions for it’s employees. There have been multiple suicides and destruction of families due to its thoughtless decisions. Experienced claim handlers are leaving and inexperienced handlers are now handling majority of the claims. All department are being downsized and people are being placed in claims role and have never handled a claim. It’s amazing to see how you can work so hard to advance only to be placed in a capacity of a claim handler because the company needs a body in chair and not a brain to think. Other companies don’t even respect candidates from State Farm because of the low quality of employee that are applying out. Hint to other companies, you will have a better chance with an employee that has been with the company 5-6 plus years. No room for advancement.

Pros

(At the time) Fair pay and predictable bonus structure They were pretty good at covering travel expenses and paying them back quickly Diverse workforce & diversity initiatives Fun and funny coworkers Opportunities for growth Again, this was all four years ago and has likely changed

Cons

(At the time and now, according to other comments) Arrogant to a fault Total lack of innovation & willingness to innovate Odd attachment to the company's past (which prevents progress) High number of veterans (20+ years) who are determined to get that retirement money, and therefore, are resistant to change and technology Heavy reliance on command and control management style Poor decision-making that leads to losses of all kinds
