Pros

The people - when I started there, I was impressed with the tenure and longevity at which most employees had been with the company. People stayed because it was a great company to work for. Key word, was. Benefits were good. Fully funded pension is unusual in this day & age.

Cons

With the changing of the guard from Rust to Tipsord, things went downhill. Fast. The focus on the customer is said to be the ultimate driver, but anyone who works there can tell you that's just a guise. The focus is now the almighty dollar. Employees are treated like a number, yet are expected to demonstrate caring and empathy to the customer. Don't get me wrong, a lot do have caring and empathy, naturally, but it's hard to actually DISPLAY it when you're admonished for taking too long with a customer to help them. And I was in a role where I was no longer directly customer facing, but could see it with everyone I interacted with internally. PTO combines sick and vacation days together. Good if you don't have health issues. But this was one more thing that allows them to control employees from using their earned leave. Good luck getting pre-approved time off, but then if you call out, it counts against you. EOM is a joke. It was taken from manufacturing work and sure, it works there because you can account for how many widgets one is making, but insurance is not built that way. Quit standing around talking about the work and just do the work.

Pros

(At the time) Fair pay and predictable bonus structure They were pretty good at covering travel expenses and paying them back quickly Diverse workforce & diversity initiatives Fun and funny coworkers Opportunities for growth Again, this was all four years ago and has likely changed

Cons

(At the time and now, according to other comments) Arrogant to a fault Total lack of innovation & willingness to innovate Odd attachment to the company's past (which prevents progress) High number of veterans (20+ years) who are determined to get that retirement money, and therefore, are resistant to change and technology Heavy reliance on command and control management style Poor decision-making that leads to losses of all kinds
