State Farm is not the same company that it once was, especially in the Claims Department. - Auto Claim Representative State Farm Employee Review

Pros

The pay is good, but over the years they have slowly taken away employee perks. Working in Claims does build up many skills like problem resolution, working with conflict, and customer service.

Cons

Depending on who becomes your Team Leader determines whether or not you are successful in your current job and future career plans. Being a claim representative is a stressful job just in the fact that you are dealing with a large number of people on a daily basis who are upset about being in an accident, being injured, not getting paid what they want, or not getting paid at all. There is lack of support from leadership and if your Team Leader is in a bind you will find yourself looking up underneath the wheels of a bus.

Pros

(At the time) Fair pay and predictable bonus structure They were pretty good at covering travel expenses and paying them back quickly Diverse workforce & diversity initiatives Fun and funny coworkers Opportunities for growth Again, this was all four years ago and has likely changed

Cons

(At the time and now, according to other comments) Arrogant to a fault Total lack of innovation & willingness to innovate Odd attachment to the company's past (which prevents progress) High number of veterans (20+ years) who are determined to get that retirement money, and therefore, are resistant to change and technology Heavy reliance on command and control management style Poor decision-making that leads to losses of all kinds
