Pros

- Not micro-managed, we can choose how to approach each problem - Offered leadership roles early (offered spot to create content for, and judge, annual intern coding competition in 1st year but I was too busy, took part in prospect interviews in 1st year) - Free Pluralsight, LinkedIn Learning licenses, and reimbursement for other online training - Good compensation - Paid to get certs, $500/cert (can be more or less depending on the cert and when you get it) - Paid to get degrees ($10,000 toward college tuition every year) - Decent team bonding (birthday outings, Pictionary, Trivia) - WFH and flex scheduling (depends on manager but almost everyone can use it in emergencies) - Free financial planners, free flu vaccinations at work, discount body massages at work

Cons

- Can’t walk/bike anywhere, some streets don’t even have sidewalks... - More than 2 hours away from Chicago and STL - Nearest good waterhole is ~30min away - Hard to meet new people (outside of work)

Pros

(At the time) Fair pay and predictable bonus structure They were pretty good at covering travel expenses and paying them back quickly Diverse workforce & diversity initiatives Fun and funny coworkers Opportunities for growth Again, this was all four years ago and has likely changed

Cons

(At the time and now, according to other comments) Arrogant to a fault Total lack of innovation & willingness to innovate Odd attachment to the company's past (which prevents progress) High number of veterans (20+ years) who are determined to get that retirement money, and therefore, are resistant to change and technology Heavy reliance on command and control management style Poor decision-making that leads to losses of all kinds
