Pros
Competitive salary by Illinois standards. Salary ranges are always being adjusted upwards. Unfortunately this typically caters towards new hires. Excellent work-life balance (typically no need to work overtime and management tend to compensate you with time off when you do have to work overtime). The company does its due diligence in keeping up with industry standards and technologies. Provide useful job training/learning opportunities. Decent job for early career.
Cons
Leadership is often non-technical! Your experience may be hit or miss based on manager/team placement. May get denied a promotion even if you meet expectations of the next level up simply based on manager/politics. A LOT of politics. No control over where you're placed or when you may be abruptly moved to a new team/manager. Leadership won't stop talking about how many career opportunities State Farm has to offer but when you want to apply for another internal position, they don't let you leave your current team.
