Pros

Everyone should be rotated in and out on a 90 day or 180 day (whatever the case may be) NO EXCEPTIONS! These CAT Operations are a GOOD idea but State Farm needs to implement some serious checks and balances. State Farm's independent adjusters and claim reps are all equally deserving of a strictly professional atmosphere, supervision and opportunity to succeed.

Cons

Who's minding the store? Every week there is a different guideline for letting good folks go!! One week it's if they forget to log out of their phone, next week it is production, next week the CR who put a one line log note in a file for a state they were not licensed in saying "provided caller with correct office contact info" and if nothing else comes to mind well they have to cut back. Oh yeah I almost forgot "if you're really - really good at your job" - close lots of claims, work lots of files and take 30 - 40 calls a day then you're a "cherry picker" and out you go. I think this arbitrary mentality is extremely unprofessional. Let not undermine State Farm's CEO of his good intentions. Yet there is a small group of IA's employed through the vendors "the elite 20% of IA's - are uncle johnys boy" and someone in the SF organization is lining their own pockets. These IA's should be on the same rotation as the other IA's & CR's. NO EXCEPTIONS - no matter what team. Now to add to this collusive environment they have decided to staff these operations with some permanent Team Managers. A CAT operation should never keep permanent staff as this allows collusion on many levels not just office politics and could result in serious consequences. Jacksonville Operation is also guilty as they control a lot of the operations in Dallas as well. Jacksonville has many times the work force and team managers yet send calls and claim work to Dallas. Are you kidding? I enjoy my work but being in a bad episode of "The Office" not so much!!

Pros

(At the time) Fair pay and predictable bonus structure They were pretty good at covering travel expenses and paying them back quickly Diverse workforce & diversity initiatives Fun and funny coworkers Opportunities for growth Again, this was all four years ago and has likely changed

Cons

(At the time and now, according to other comments) Arrogant to a fault Total lack of innovation & willingness to innovate Odd attachment to the company's past (which prevents progress) High number of veterans (20+ years) who are determined to get that retirement money, and therefore, are resistant to change and technology Heavy reliance on command and control management style Poor decision-making that leads to losses of all kinds
