Pros

Big name corporation, so looks good on resume

Cons

Horrible environment. Very understaffed, so every adjuster has hundreds of claims. The organization will constantly hold an auto-transfer over the adjusters' heads of being placed in the next level of adjusting= Litigation/Fatalities/etc. but while your workload will increase substantially, your pay does not. You don't receive a raise for being forced into the next level of adjusting. Old company=Old people=Old mindsets means, they look down on higher degrees. Most of the management has completed the CPCU, which is provided by the organization if you want to complete it. This is a nice benefit, however when you're interviewing for other positions, the managers will talk down to you if you have an MBA or any other advanced degree. Higher, more well-rounded degrees are not looked favorably upon there. If you don't have a CPCU, you won't advance. It doesn't matter what degree you have. If you have anything above an MBA, you are treated worse. It's like they're envious of another's accomplishments. Since I've left, I have been sought out by colleagues who are still there, and the culture is apparently worse than when I was there. I have heard they only require 1-day/week in the office, which is nice. Hope this helps, and no, I would never work there again. One other thing, you will have so much work that the weight of the stress will constantly be on your mind. However, you won't get in trouble if you don't do all of your work, unless you are voluntold to go to the next level of adjusting without a raise, so I would suggest spending your time looking for another job. If your claim load gets too high, they'll just transfer the volume to someone else.

Pros

(At the time) Fair pay and predictable bonus structure They were pretty good at covering travel expenses and paying them back quickly Diverse workforce & diversity initiatives Fun and funny coworkers Opportunities for growth Again, this was all four years ago and has likely changed

Cons

(At the time and now, according to other comments) Arrogant to a fault Total lack of innovation & willingness to innovate Odd attachment to the company's past (which prevents progress) High number of veterans (20+ years) who are determined to get that retirement money, and therefore, are resistant to change and technology Heavy reliance on command and control management style Poor decision-making that leads to losses of all kinds
