Pros

Work/life balance in some groups is great, with work from home potential and tons of vacation time. They will hire anyone who shows even halfway competency and can network with a recruiter.

Cons

Salary is low. Really low. I mean if you are getting hired without even a bachelors degree (like I was), then its not so bad but in terms of a career or post graduation it is just absolutely awful. The benefits are good, but in this industry nearly all companies have good benefits so don't let that sway you. The saddest part is the annual layoffs and the fact that the industry has simply passed by its glory years for a company like state street. In the 80's and 90's this company was heaven on earth but not anymore.

Pros

Own book runner and strategy. Good work life balance. Good working environment and nice people to work together

Cons

No much growth. Promotion to VP or higher is even forbidden based on company policy. Instead, ask people to move to different role. It doesn't make a lot of sense since it encourage people to find a new job.

Pros

They offer resources for learning.

Cons

In my previous roles I've never felt burnout but with this one is the first I was feeling crush. I don't think managers take time to structure the tasks on a 8hrs or 10hrs per day. There are a lot of unrealistic expectations, no work-life balance at all. Even if you made the sacrifice to stay late, you will not be done with the work for the day.
