Pros
Learned through trial by fire. SSB put me in a group where they started to offshore a lot of roles into India. There were definitely plenty of opportunities to learn and figure things at the ground. Their technology was surprisingly better than most firms I went through. Their healthcare package, education reimbursement and 401Ks were pretty good. ERG groups were pretty big and super active.
Cons
Terrible entry pay. Don't do it as your first job out of college on the SSGS. You are better off working on the SSGM side or SSGA. The starting salary point would be lower and your promotions will be pegged to that base pay. SSGM / SSGA could easily pay you $20-$30K extra as an entry level. Most folks in SSGS are unmotivated and stay there for life. My team went from an 8 people group down to 2 people to handle over 1K emails a day. Management couldn't seem to understand why we were making so many mistakes at that point. I had to be online until the files go out, which could be as late as midnight. On top of that my client complained about my WFH once so management took away my WFH privilege (this was happened in 2018/2019). I wouldn't want to work here if my employer couldn't even protect my own interests. I left soon after that happened. There's a lot of finger pointing blaming culture here during my time there and teams are put into silos. Everyone follows their Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and won't think flexibly to make the process better. There's plenty of diversity at entry level. However I could tell there weren't a lot of minority representations once you hit the VPs/MDs/EVP levels and above.
