Pros

People can be good. Good for people right out of school as probably half the company consists of entry level people. Good place to get exposure to very basic market concepts.

Cons

This is an operations company. If you want to work in a "finance" role look somewhere else. Pay is low, bonuses are low, lots of redundancy in middle management. Benefits are weak. They lay people off every year so you never really feel secure in your job. Culture is toxic and turnover is constant. You'll never hear someone say they're proud to work at State Street and really, most people seem a bit ashamed of it (I know I did). It's a total joke in the industry and everyone in Boston knows it.

Pros

Own book runner and strategy. Good work life balance. Good working environment and nice people to work together

Cons

No much growth. Promotion to VP or higher is even forbidden based on company policy. Instead, ask people to move to different role. It doesn't make a lot of sense since it encourage people to find a new job.

Pros

They offer resources for learning.

Cons

In my previous roles I've never felt burnout but with this one is the first I was feeling crush. I don't think managers take time to structure the tasks on a 8hrs or 10hrs per day. There are a lot of unrealistic expectations, no work-life balance at all. Even if you made the sacrifice to stay late, you will not be done with the work for the day.
