Pros

The coworkers on your level are great, and you become bonded pretty quickly through mutual suffering.

Cons

Where do I start, Everything has been pretty well covered in previous interviews. When I was coming out of my first job and looking to make the jump to DC, I thought I was really getting a prestigious offer from Stateside. I grew up poor, so when they offered me 42,000 starting salary, that was a lot of money for me. I quickly realized it was nothing. I addition to the reviews from my former coworkers, my battle buddies, I would like to really touch on how this company handles disability accommodations, because the way they treated me was horrible, it was like we were speaking two different languages and management, specifically upper management was incapable of understanding a single word I was saying. Again, as stated in previous reviews, they want to burn and turn, out with the old and in with the new, when it comes to employees. So a disability accommodation makes it harder for them to do that to you. Which goes against their entire business model. I asked for an accommodation, I was met with the legal runaround and basically prosecuted on whether or not I actually have a mental disability, I had to provide documentation and then even after that, had to explain in great detail how said accommodations were necessary and had to essentially defend why I needed them. They ended up giving me only one of the many accommodations I asked for. After explaining my disability to them in a long email where I poured my heart out and was essentially begging them for help, I was responded to with one sentence, "Are you asking for an accommodation or not?". Nothing more than that. I felt as if I was ignored, misunderstood, and not taken seriously. To this day, at every employer I have had, I have been terrified of management, I have been scared to ask for help, and I have suffered in silence in almost every situation. I have Stateside Associates to thank for that. When they laid us all off, I honestly felt as if I had been freed from prison, and I welcomed it. I enjoyed being a dishwasher at Olive Garden more than I enjoyed this job. So take the reviews seriously, almost immediately after most of us posted them, people that were in the senior levels of management started posting their own reviews telling you to ignore us, and that the company was great, "Take the reviews with a grain of salt" I read. That couldn't be farther from the truth. Most of the positive reviews here are just them trying to save face. I would encourage you to reach out to current junior level employees and schedule a time to call them and talk to them about the job in an honest setting, where they can share with you exactly what its like.

Pros

Good for getting your foot in the door and a substantive item on your resume. Decent coworkers who are all in the same boat as you. Good opportunities to make connections. Very understanding when you inevitably find a different position.

Cons

Management is difficult. They have high expectations and will continue to load you with more work without additional staffing. Communication can be poor. Very small teams are responsible for very large workloads. Depending on your department, work-life balance can be a big problem (not mine, luckily). I get the feeling that this will all be automated out of existence one day
