Pros

Easy place to work, room to advance, decent benefits and a secure job in an industry with nearly no competitors.

Cons

Wages aren't negotiable. No raises, just cost of living and moving up posititions. A new employee starts at the same pay as someone that's been there 5 years in the same position. No additional pay for being cross trained in multiple departments. Pay scale needs serious revision. The feeling of working for a corporation has increased in the last few years. Production is #1, while working employees into the ground with no incentives. And if you don't like it, you're replaceable.

Pros

Work hours are well balanced, and it is fairly stress free. Managers seem to care and they do not give you grief about taking time off, whether it is for vacation or not. Pay is comparable to other manufacturing, non-professional office type work. Steady work load with little down time.

Cons

I'm not able to speak for other positions, but for mine, I honestly don't have anything negative to say. I have worked for other employers in this area that were much worse to work for than Stella-Jones. I will say that the "corporate mind-set" does show up from time to time, and it can be frustrating, but that is pretty common this day and age, so it isn't really a Stella-Jones specific issue.
