Pros

The benefits and experience is great. You get health benefits with very small co-pay to contribute and the vacation time setup is really a nice perk. If you are in admin departments, you have option to work 4-10 schedule but if you are a direct service staff like a service coordinator you work the normal 8-5 schedule. However, the option to accrue and use vacation time at your convenience is really great to have. Not many companies offer this.

Cons

Admin department need help. Wished there was more admin funding to get the required help. Most admin staff here wear too many hats. They get the job done but you do see them struggling to balance the work load. No 1 person should be struggling and balancing work and personal life. So admin department should be more supported to really strive and support the agency a lot better.

Pros

Step Up is truly a special place to work. The mission to support individuals experiencing mental health conditions and homelessness is not only powerful but is embedded in every aspect of the organization’s work. The team is compassionate, collaborative, and made up of dedicated professionals who really care about making a difference. Leadership is supportive and open to feedback, and there are real opportunities to grow and contribute in meaningful ways. It's inspiring to work alongside people who are so committed to creating positive change in the community.

Cons

Nonprofit work can come with its challenges—limited resources and heavy workloads at times—but the passion of the team and the impact of the work make it worthwhile.
