Pros

Some teachers are truly dedicated- I'd put a handful of the faculty against the best in the state. Some great kids too.

Cons

Very low pay- Steward wants to put itself in the same league as Collegiate and the Saints but pays little. Central administration is bloated, inefficient and overly self-important. They believe that they, not students, are the reason for the school's existence.

Pros

* Great benefits and PTO * Almost always get annual 2% raise * Familial culture with passionate people * Opportunity to work with children

Cons

* Working within administration is often chaotic and stressful due to too many people needing to be involved in each project *Managerial styles among each of the admin departments are very different, with some who are very relaxed and others who are very controlling. This can make collaboration and communication within and across teams difficult * Very low pay with limited chance of promotion or moving into a higher salary bracket. The raise system is very rigid and not based on merit. The school tries to justify this with very generous benefits and PTO, but these benefits only go so far if you are making below your market value * Overall, the school often seems "too big for its britches" and tries too hard to compete with other well-established private schools in their marketing rather than genuinely embracing what makes Steward unique and special. New (and often good) ideas are not always accepted for fear it will misrepresent the school * School administration caters completely to the wants of parents (whether justifiably so or not) in an effort to not upset anyone and risk losing tuition $ * Little effort is given to try and keep staff long term
