Pros
Financial resources. Stryker will spend money--if you have a plan that demonstrates ROI but requires $$ investment Stryker will spend the money and allow you to run. Robust product pipeline, talented R&D Flat organization... at least in trauma, the organization does not seemed to be bogged down by bureaucracy and hierarchy. Decisions can be made fast.
Cons
While decisions can be made fast, this seems to apply mostly to those in the "inner circle" of leadership. That group of people is empowered to make decisions. Those who are outside of the inner circle are made to feel excluded and are uncertain about their position within the organization. The trauma organization is lead by former sales reps without a proper marketing balance. There is lack of respect and understanding for the processes necessary to bring products to market in a highly regulated industry. You cannot elicit change in the NPD process if you do not understand NPD. Lack of diversity. Organization is lead by white men with similar backgrounds with the occasional token female. There is limited diversity of thought.
