Pros

- Offered good pay, good secondary compensation, and good benefits - Middle and low level management were decent - Culture was accepting of work-life balance needs - Stryker's hiring process brought in positive and effective teammates - Seems the organization from top to bottom took consistent action to make long-term improvements, even if priorities are different between groups and different levels of the hierarchy.

Cons

- Working in or around production was a high pressure environment. - Middle management seemed disempowered to drive site-specific long-term improvements. - The products and their production systems at my site at had accrued significant and costly technical debt from poor engineering in the past. Middle management only took concerns surrounding this situation seriously when conveyed by the right people. - Lack of vertical mobility and growth opportunities for technical staff outside of a tuition reimbursement program. - Consistently heard about project management faux pas related to new product development, which wouldn't have been any of my business except it could create even more technical debt.

Pros

The individual contributors you work with are fantastic people and the products we work on are really interesting and have significant impacts on patient care.

Cons

Sports Medicine has unfortunately changed from a dynamic and collaborative group to one being led by toxic leadership. Rather than working together and trusting team members, they now have an in group and out group. If you’re in the in group, you can say anything you want without being questioned and be automatically trusted even when your track record says otherwise. If you’re in the out group and your message doesn’t align with what the leadership wants to hear, then you are automatically wrong and not to be trusted.
