It's normal for job candidates to interview unpaid or take on trial projects. Re: the Work - As you can imagine, candidates have a limited understanding of our content requirements within minutes of meeting us, and as a result, most of the work provided during their trial run is rather unusable. We couldn't possible scale our content this way; a short look at the frequency of our articles and videos should make this clear. As far as "picking a candidate's brain for strategies," this is a common part most any company's interview process and allows us to evaluate the candidate's understanding of their potential job duties.
