Pros

Lots of $$$ if you know a lot of people and work really hard. Very good products and solutions that are marketable thanks to a strong household name.

Cons

High employee turnover. If you don't like sales, this is not for you. If you don't like rejection, this is not for you. If you don't have a tough stomach to say no to your superiors, this is not for you. If you believe that becoming an Advisor is your ticket to corporate down the road, this is not for you. Becoming an Advisor is the pinnacle of your career here and you are expected to stay with the company in this role until you retire. There is no up, down or sideways promotion wise (other than joining sales management which is a lot of the same thing and then some). You will make however much you put in with respect to your effort and the number of people you know and can connect with. You can easily make over a 100k in your first year or end up with a debit balance and actually owe the company money. Think of this as your business, be prepared to take a risk.

Pros

Sun Life provides competitive benefits, remote work opportunities, and the chance to work alongside knowledgeable professionals. The company offers strong learning opportunities within the disability and leave management space.

Cons

Staffing reductions and increasing workloads have made it difficult for some teams to maintain service levels while preserving employee well-being. Leadership communication and support can vary by department.
