SunTrust's primary focus is the bottom line, and is prone to make short term decisions with long term impacts. - Vice President SunTrust Employee Review

Pros

In the past SunTrust has had great employees, working together to meet corporate needs and the common good. Prior experiences should not have the expectation of being continued.

Cons

In the technology world, staff is often asked to work extra hours, weekends, nights, holidays, etc to meet release implementations, break fix requirements, meet project deadlines, etc. The "extra" hours requirement of the staff is rarely acknowledged, or reimbursed as either compensation or time-off. Compensation is reported to be in line with industry standards; however, the methodology for reviews and performance ratings become more a task to be completed and lack management commitment to take the process seriously. Higher rated reviews tend to be based on who you know and less on actual performance or achievement of goals. Benefits are somewhat better than industry standards. That said, in the name of profit margin the company has reduced the benefits packages and placed more burden on the employee. Promotions are reported to be based on qualifications and performance reviews. In actuality, as the promotion moves into a higher grade, the more likely the company will look to outside candidates and not consider internal staff.
