Pros

Excellent maintenance, competitive pay, lodging/meal per diem, line mile/profit sharing bonuses. Efficient teams who get along well. Piloting a twin turbo-prop aircraft is challenging and an enjoyable job. In the aircraft you manage yourself along with your sensor operator. Ron Hoffman is an excellent CEO as well as pilot; understands the role of pilots on the road.

Cons

Micromanagement, low meal per diem, no room for advancement (only “role-flexibility”, flying piston airframes). You are on the road more than you are at home (two weeks on/6 days off). No further career advancement possible in this job position (confirmed by chief pilot).

Surdex Co. Response

Thank you for the overall 5-star rating as a pilot for Surdex. We are proud to offer early career pilots the opportunity to grow from single engine pistons to a twin-turbo prop aircraft. Our fleet of aircraft, including the C441 Conquest II, are meticulously maintained to provide the safety, enjoyment and challenge you mention. Recognizing the importance of a better work/personal life balance with our travel requirements, we made a change to our scheduling. Our flight crew now have a pre-set rotation schedule enabling them to plan ahead for family time rather than being on call without notice. On rare occasions, this may need to be modified. We are actively pursuing win-win options to improve retention of our pilots. After thorough consideration of the purchase of a jet; it was deemed not to be the best option for our business needs. Thank you again for your overall positive recommendation as well as your comments for improvement..
