Pros
I can't speak for any other poster, but let me say that NO ONE ASKED ME TO WRITE THIS. After interviewing, I reconsidered taking the position I was offered after reading some reviews here, suffice to say, I'm glad I went with my gut instinct and accepted the position.
It's a very dynamic environment. Things are always changing, always moving, always growing. This can make some people very uncomfortable, scared, nervous, but some of us thrive on this type of environment. Personally, I love it.
As the company is growing exponentially, there is a lot of opportunity for growth if you want it.
There is a positive aspect to the lack of structure -- I have worked in some highly structured corporate environments and I hated it, sucks the life out of you, and it is not conducive to a creative environment. Surya is very organic, and while it does need more infrastructure to frame its growth, I would hate to see it become some bureaucratic corporate machine.
Everyone works really hard -- I'm not sure where the perception comes from that some people have it easy here, things are definitely different depending on what position you fill, but I have not seen anyone who doesn't pull their weight and more.
They also play hard -- I love my job. The hours are long, sometimes I'm exhausted, but I knew that coming in, everyone was upfront in the interview process about what we would be expected of me. As hard as I work, I also have a great deal of fun.
Cons
Lack of structure -- there is also a challenging side to this, the company is having growing pains and it shows. There needs to be more infrastructure so that all of us can work more efficiently.
From what I can see, upper management is aware of the issues the company is facing and attempting to address them. It's just going to take some time and effort to get it all sorted.
