Heard about the deadly heat wave in India? Oh, wait, that’s my office… - Anonymous employee Surya Employee Review

Pros

The offices are in windowless concrete bunkers, so there is no chance of getting skin cancer from sun exposure. If there is a nuclear bomb, employees could probably hunker down and survive in Calhoun for a couple of weeks. Also, daily saunas are good for vascular health, so sitting at my desk should provide the same benefits.

Cons

This company is so cheap they try to save money by not properly cooling the offices, studio and warehouse. This is Georgia for heaven’s sake, not India, and we need our air conditioning. Think it is funny and insignificant? Try working around computer equipment and huge servers all day in 80 plus degree heat. It’s a wonder the hardware doesn’t fry, snap crackle and pop. The studio can be over 100 degrees. Management thinks it’s okay to scrimp on electricity costs while thousands of dollars of equipment fries. The warehouse is a virtual oven with people doing heavy labor while sniffing up carpet fumes, but it doesn’t matter because this only effects the workers and they are disposable – they already don’t use safety harnesses and use broken ladders.

Well, thanks for the interesting take; we enjoy a chuckle around here. Our new facility will open very soon, and will provide a better working environment for all of us. In the meantime, feel free to drop in, call (ext. 242) or email (Steve.Lovig@Surya.com) so I can learn more about your concerns.
