Management doesn't really care about lower people on the totem poll. They only see to be looking out for themselves. They had a program to train and promote managers from within after being with the company for so long. Instead of picking people that would make exceptional managers and had the necessary skills, they instead chose people based on how much a higher up manager liked them. If the manager on your program didn't like you, there was no way you were getting into the management training program.
