Pros

Two week paid shut down.

OFC does not promote blacks. Personally, I believe they go out of their way not to. Their brand of racism is subtle and polite but obviously a daily, normal business practice at Sawgelok company. Racism is clearly, apart of their culture and foundation. Very few black supervisors. One black in the office. Most are seen only on the shop floor (lowest paid). Blacks (African Americans) are paid well below other minorities meaning white women, non black immigrants (East Indians) and black immigrants (Africans). With wages low and very little work within the company, no OT is available making it difficult to make ends meet for the poorly paid among Swagelok employees. Knowing times are hard for everyone, especially for the blacks they choose not give a livable salary, they offer no empathic solutions to help their so-called "Swagelok Family" who are struggling. We are unseen by this company which is their norm.

Pros

Friendly coworkers, lots of holidays off, year end shutdown.

Cons

Low pay. Lots of office politics. Your merit increase is based on how well you are liked - not how well you perform. If you don’t fit the Swagelok mold you will have a hard time advancing. It’s almost looked down upon to be an external hire.
