Pros

Coming from my own experience I do get treated fairly well in my department. Upon hire granted 7 days PTO and 5 sick days. Convenient location for those who commute by metro. Great co workers. Benefits are very good. Provides classes on how to make the workplace a better place. Room for advancement when there is an opportunity.

Cons

no parking, although it is discounted if you're an employee through Symetra but not temp agency. Far commute. Depending on who your supervisor or manager is it can be difficult to get an approval. I've always been told by my supervisor every time I asked for a day off to confirm with all the other leads/managers which is pretty inconvenient and because I have a far commute and Symetra is starting their own work from home days my supervisor only tells me "We'll see if it's in the budget" which doesn't really help either. Every request feels like i'm being interrogated or never given a straight forward answer and always beating around the bush. I have turned to higher management for my requests just because I don't want to keep getting answers like that. I also noticed some managers/leads will ignore you when they want to avoid confrontation.

Pros

Great opportunities here to become a true student of the business. Flexibility in work location, because it's really and truly a fully remote first workplace. Opportunity to develop and nurture an effective sales system, bring value and partner for a lifetime with financial professionals to help grow businesses, and protect clients' and families' futures. Guidance and employee engagement in future-proofing the business, leadership opportunities, and opportunities for community impact that you can measure both with hard data and with emotional impact on the team. I'm genuinely glad to get up and go to work every morning. I'm grateful for the opportunity, and the confidence given to us to be driven and self-sufficient professionals.

Cons

Training is getting exponentially better, and structure is fomenting, but still isn't where it should be, by far. Sales teams bolster each other, but there's a perception of "performance punishment" that affects morale. The company wants to be a top ten carrier, but feels like it's lacking direction in other divisions, and our operational growing pains are evident to advisors.
