Pros
- Compensation is competitive - Eligible for performance bonus yearly - Sick Time and PTO are separate; you get 1 week of sick time at the beginning of the year - Bus pass is subsidized - comes right out of your paycheck ($10/paycheck - maybe) - Great on-boarding "welcome to Symetra" type training/orientation - Education reimbursement/assistance - Only have to work for 6 months in position before looking for other jobs internally - Ergonomic workstations (raising desks) - Multiple computer monitors - Accommodating to new hires (equipment, supplies, etc) - Lots of Symetra "swag" when you start; my cube is covered in it :) - Great location (convenient to walk to restaurants, grocery store, transit center, etc) - Wellness incentive program (discounts on insurance with participation) - All employees are issued a laptop -- no desktops - Secure building/elevator access/stair access w/ badge
Cons
- No training in my department for my specific job; learn as you go; procedures unclear/not in place - VERY small team (most of us are in CT) - Floundered for the first month or so, figuring out how to do my job - PTO accrual is slow - Disconnect from rest of company - Uncertainty about new Japan acquisition
