Pros

Turnkey training for people who need it. The contracting process is efficient.

Cons

Eventually you learn that the lead system is ridiculous. They claim they don't make money by dropping direct mail into a market area but this just isn't the truth. Leads are generated through bait and switch letters that make it unclear why someone would complete and send it in. The leads are then bought and resold repeatedly and it becomes clear that you are only revered when you are dialing for 72 hours beginning on a Friday evening into Sunday requiring 400 calls to try and schedule the coveted 10 appointments minimum needed per week to succeed. If you don't buy their leads weekly, they don't market in your area and your business model under their direction FAILS. Period. The company loves to promote a work/life balance for independent agents but it is more of a click and borders on almost a cult following. They pray on people down on their luck, insisting that they must attend their repetitive phone meetings and quarterly, semi annual and annual events. These events showcase the founders and top original members in a pretense that you too can rise to be like them. The reality is they have done an excellent job of convincing the public that they have something wonderful in play but the (Turnover) is astronomical and the agency directors just feed off the newcomers that fill their pockets. This experience left me running from the business to pursue something that will reward my efforts rather than line the pockets of others. I'm glad I found this out in the prime of my career, before it was too late. Avoid this misrepresented career move at all cost!

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience. As a company we strive to be transparent about all aspects of our lead system. I disagree with your comment about the leads being a bait and switch as our leads make no other offer to the client outside of purchasing life insurance. We make it clear to prospects what information they are requesting from an agent. This is extremely important to us as we are only interested in finding qualified and interested prospects. As part of this system we work with agents to provide marketing in areas they request to that time can be spent meeting with clients, not on marketing and prospecting. I will reiterate, as I have said in past reviews, we lose money monthly on our lead program and only make money when our agents do. I see from your review that you were with Symmetry for less than one year. To say that you cannot reach the level of our top agents and managers within a year is certainly accurate. To say it is not possible could not be more inaccurate. The entire system is built upon this exact possibility and over the past year alone we have seen our pool of managers grow by more that 50%, with more and more agents achieving this status on a monthly basis. As a company we continue to see year over year growth as we continue to expand into new markets and shore up or stake in existing ones. I can see your point about turnover and this is to be expected in a position that is commission only sales. This is an ongoing are of focus for Symmetry as we know what is possible for agents that are able to work through the ups and downs that are inevitable through their journey at Symmetry. At Symmetry we believe strongly that consistent activity, self directed learning, and ongoing course corrections are the best recipe for success. We encourage all hiring agents to be up front about the system at Symmetry and what it takes to be successful and I certainly hope this was provided to you before joining us. That being said I can agree that I am glad you have discovered that a career path with Symmetry is not for you and I hope that you are able to find the success you desire moving forward.

Pros

Great place to work, all the training you could ask for. Ample room to grow and develop, loads of promotion opportunities and bonuses

Cons

1099/commission only think of it as a solo entrepreneurship. Leads are available, but not given to you, you do need to pay. But think of it like the marketing costs to run any business. While there is an abundance of coaching and opportunities available as a whole. Who your uplines are can determine your success if you let it. So do your research on which agency you go with. Some are production focused, some are agency building and vibes focused. Some healthy combination of both. If you’re just getting into sales, having an upline with a record of success is a must. With massive amounts do activity you can be very successful

Pros

Work your own hours. Stay at home job 60% of the time. Very positive environment. Great conventions to travel and meet people. Potential to recruit everyone you know. When your up - feels amazing to be there. And once you take a turn, well then, see below...

Cons

Let me explain to you - that - it pains me to write this. This company took me a long way. But what I never realized, is if you compaire them to other brokers, they are low on the compensation scale. Start at 60% - I have had offers to start at 70% and even 85%. If you don't like running a team and recruiting, then don't bother. If you manage to write enough business to make a living, you need to get help - you would need to hire people to set appointments. Your really running your entire business and your upline will give you the moral boost. The Con is the debt - you will end up going bankrupt, owe the IRS - and probably be reported to Vector and go bust. They pressure you into taking out more lead orders, it gets expensive. Ah - you best hope nobody charges back a deal. The business is a doggy dog world. The guys who recruit are at the top of the chain. The sad truth is I made my upline thousands, when I was going broke, he wouldn't loan me a dime to save my life. I was selling everything I own, and taking out more debt to pay for leads. I was a great agent, above average - in fact I made it much farther then 80% of the new hires. No benefits, No 401k, No insurance, once you pay for leads and benefits, you best hope your buying the $30 dollar leads to get some good clients. It is really hard, I think if you make it, you probably know how to run a business - not for an average Joe in my opinion.
