Pros

Friendly people and co-workers Interesting Projects Leaders in Chicago tried

Cons

-Upper management (NY headquarters) response to the pandemic was terrible. Their demand to come back into the office within months was met with a lot of resistance but they didn't care. -Upper management will act like they care about work-life balance but at the end of the day, making clients happy with take priority over anything else -HR is in New York and again they just care about protecting the company not the employee -They say they are diverse and inclusive, but in 2020 during the George Floyd and BLM movement, they only posted to LinkenIn, no communication to the company or really follow up at all. -Deadlines are very unreasonable and as an engineer you are set up for failure, because you will rush to get something done and sometimes that will be wrong which leads to issues down the line.

Thank you for your feedback. Syska Hennessy followed all CDC guidelines by state to ensure employee safety during the pandemic. We also understand that projects may at times require additional hours to meet overall project deadlines. Regular feedback with your manager is essential to align staffing per project. If an employee feels that doesn’t work – we also have processes in place to assist as well. Our goal is always the well-being of our staff. Syska Hennessy uses our firm intranet to provide a platform for national communications (eg. What’s happening in our offices and externally). We conveyed our stance on DEI and racism internally and on all social media platforms. Syska Hennessy hosted a SHAPE (Syska Hennessy Advocating for Professional Equality) panel discussion on Workplace Diversity, Equity and Inclusion. Pros

Lunch and learns are nice. And they do have clear career growth timelines.

Cons

They expect you to pay for daily parking which adds up fast. Not flexible WFH. Micromanagement and harsh. Lack of middle engineers because they all leave once they have experience yet leadership does nothing to retain.
