This would be fine if there were follow-through with valuing the employees, however you can go years being told that it's a great company to build your career in, that you're part of a family, and that you have great opportunities, but regardless how loyal an employee is to the company, how many awards you've gotten, and how valued they tell you that you are, you can still get cut in a wide swath layoff because of sweeping changes.
