Pros

The company as a whole was a great company. Being a very large global company your work environment depended a lot on what you given location was whether it be in a plant or an office space. It basically comes with all the similar problems and benefits of being at a large (72,000+) company. Benefits and compensation were some of the best in my local area especially for engineering. The work from an engineers standpoint was always very interesting and rewarding but varies largely again on what location and Business Unit (BU) you are in. Plenty of ways to get involved in other things and stay connected and network with other colleagues through Employee Resource Groups (ERGs). There is definitely a clear and present shift in the culture to try to bring in and appeal to younger talent.

Cons

While they had a clear vision of where they want to take the company especially locally for even my plant the execution was tough. Management would have high aspirations and goals that would never pan out due to funding. TE reacts very much so with the markets and economic trends. One year we are expanding and doing well and the next we might be buckling down and experiencing layoffs. In the end it suffered from red-tape and a disconnect between upper management and what actually occurs in the plants. Have separate Business Units with competing goals and funding always seemed to get in the way. There was also poor communication globally between groups where work was often repeated and sharing ideas was not done. Different groups within the same company were hesitant to share finding or design ideas with others even though at the end of the day we were the same company. This created interesting dynamics at times. Another thing is that especially in engineering a lot of employees are close to retirement and the companies long term plan in this area is not clear. We see a lot people leaving and taking vital knowledge with them without being replaced and passing on this tribal knowledge.

Pros

PTO, HR accessibility, work environment (indoors, climate control), clear chain of command,

Cons

local 'vibe' of racism, misogyny, homophobia was at odds with the progressive corporate policy, resulting in friction between 'good ol' boy' network and others. Long standing employees, those with over 5 years of experience, aren't recognized for their undocumented contributions.
