Pros
Where do I begin. Yes, the benefits and pay are very competitive and there are other great incentives offered by the company. Our compensation and benefits package is helpful for attracting top talent to join our team, but that's not why they stay. I can think of several reasons why employees stay at TEC long-term. Many of these reasons, in my opinion, are a direct result of incredibly strong personal and professional values, business acuity, and leadership exhibited by our current President/CEO, Eric Eakins, and by his late father, Rolland Eakins, who founded TEC in 1984 and created the vision that we continue to chase today. The Eakins family are good honest people and about as humble as it gets. They go out of their way to give credit and recognition to others, while avoiding taking any for themselves, so I wanted to take this opportunity to give credit where credit is due, since Glassdoor comments are permanent. :) Thank you all for the opportunity to be a part of something truly special. Pros of TEC - The real reasons why people stay (In no particular order): 1. Family Atmosphere - People care about each other here. Management listens and treats employees with respect. 2. Invest in Employee's Future - Very supportive of continued education and training. If an employee identifies a position they want to be promoted to, the company will assist in creating a time-line and roadmap of accomplishments required in order to reach that goal. In 2020, the President/CEO presented an updated organizational chart and 5 year plan, which created many open positions and opportunities for employee advancement. 3. Flexibility in Schedule and Work-Life Balance - The company understands that employees need to fulfill personal responsibilities and that unexpected things happen. 4. Constant/Consistent Growth - Despite the pandemic, we continue to hire and take on more work and new customers. 5. Setup for Long-Term Success - The current President/CEO recently utilized his background in architecture to design a larger office building in Downtown Wichita that will allow TEC to continue growing without restrictions. The current office has reached max capacity. The new office location is customized to suit TEC's long-term vision and there's definite excitement among employees, since the official move-in date is right around the corner! 6. Freedom to Create & Voice Opinions - Creativity is always welcome and sharing ideas/collaborating openly will always encouraged. 7. The Challenge and Reward - Employees enjoy new challenges caused by industry(ies) that are constantly changing. Work will never be boring and repetitive here, which keeps people engaged and happy long-term. Happy employees many times translates to quality work and high productivity, which the company believes should be recognized and rewarded.
Cons
Like many, I've experienced what it's like to feel overworked and underappreciated for long periods of time. I've seen the worst of the worst in regards to what I referred to as 'leadership' and worked with difficult people that strengthened my character. Although I didn't think so at the time, it was good that I had those experiences, so that I can truly put things in perspective and (deeply) appreciate where I am now. I'm sitting here actually trying hard to think of one negative comment about TEC and I'm striking out.
