Pros

Liked working with the last recruiter assigned to my previous market segment/area. He seemed to have a good inside track for upcoming positions and was actively looking for market growth opportunities. I have enjoyed working the recruiting staff to get re-hired for positions that they have available.

Cons

For contracting of resources they are very focused on the getting the position filled... but as a contractor they are not really an employee focused company- maybe that is different on the consulting and administrative sides, but as a contractor, other than your timecard and paycheck, you have very little contact with corporate. There is no personnel evaluation- you just do your job to the client's satisfaction. TEK culture? From a contractor perspective I am not sure what that really is. Corporate organizational communication comes in the form of an occasional newsletter, or you can visit the corporate website. Future contract career opportunities are based onTEK' current list of client job position offerings at that time. Regarding unemployment/layoffs', compared to other organizations, they have a long way to go. I got NO information from them at the time my contract ran out. I had to call them. It has been difficult being unemployed, but it was made even more so trying to figure out their part. Benefits for contractor's are expensive- paid a lot for a little. Got better medical coverage through my auto & home provider- more benefits for less. I recommend looking into more than just the employer offerer options. Had a crazy experience trying to resolve a double pay (over pay) issue from corporate. (I never heard what the root-cause was, but it wasn't based on time card input.) I caught it and immediately brought it to their attention. It took over six months to respond to and resolve the issue, often with me having to drive the follow-up on the issue through local staff. Maybe it was just bad luck that it happened, but I was was glad when it was FINALLY resolved correctly.

Teksystems have top rated clients in their radar and the recruiters are always ready to listen and try to give solution if there are any roadblocks as they render a comfortable platform to discuss anything regarding the contract.

Cons

Pros

- Decent pay to start. - Account manager is responsive, engaging, and a serious advocate for you and your contract. - Gain access to Udemy Business to build more skills.

Cons

- The benefits suck. - High recruiter turnover with highly variable experience trying to work with them-- some are good, most are not. - Once you are placed, you will be promised regular meetings and then never hear from the recruiter again. - Trying to find a new contract if you are unhappy with your current placement is nearly impossible and I don't believe they are incentivized to help you move at all. - You have to manually request a raise and depending on how you negotiated your contract, you may or may not have the ability to receive one. - There is a cap to how much they will pay you for the contract so even if you work that position 4 years, once you hit that cap you are stuck. I originally submitted my resume with TekSystems when I had finished my degree and never heard back. Many years later, I was approached on LinkedIn by a TekSystems recruiter for a position and he had no idea I was in the system previously. Working with him was good, and I did get the position. Then I never heard from him again and I've had 4 or 5 different recruiters whose names I could not tell you if I tried since then. There's supposed to be monthly calls, they never happen.
